Mt Rigi watches over the eastern shore of Lake Lucerne and was one of the first mountains in the world to have a cog railway. First opened in 1871, the Mt Rigi rack train was originally pulled by steam engines. It was changed to electric, later on, but still today the route operates with nostalgic steam on special runs. There are actually two railways to the summit of Mt Rigi. The original Mt Rigi cog train from the shore of Lake Lucerne at Vitznau where the lake cruise boats stop.

The Bürgenstock Funicular is a funicular railway in the canton of Nidwalden, Switzerland. The line links the landing stage at Kehrsiten-Bürgenstock, served by the regular passenger boats of the Schifffahrtsgesellschaft des Vierwaldstättersees, with the Bürgenstock resort and its famous hotels. The funicular was opened in 1888 and was originally a water-ballast funicular with an Abt rack braking rail. Lake Lauerzersee lies between the Rigi and Mythen massifs in the municipalities of Lauerz Schwyz and Steinen. The lake, which is 3 kilometres long and a maximum of 1 kilometre wide, lies at an altitude of 447 metres. With a maximum depth of 14 metres, it is one of the shallowest lakes in Switzerland.

The Meggenhorn castle and its gardens are positioned on a hillside on a peninsula south of Lucerne. It was inspired by Châteaux Chambord in the Loire Valley France and the grounds are open to the public since 1974. The castle overlooks a vineyard and is a popular place for picnicking with access to the lake for swimming. There is also a family playground with farm animals that children can see close up.

The Landhaus, in which Wagner created a number of his works, is now a museum containing photographs, paintings, and a valuable collection of scores and letters illustrating the life and work of the artist. The centerpiece of the collection is the Erard grand piano. The museum also puts on temporary exhibitions alongside the permanent Wagner collection on display. These focus on aspects of his work and times.

The Kunsthaus Zug has existed since 1990 in a complex from the 16th century, the “Hof Im Dorf”, on the edge of the old town of Zug in Switzerland. It shows the most important collection of Viennese Modernism outside of Austria. The house owes its collection of works of classical modernism with a focus on Vienna to the Kamm Collection Foundation. It was founded in 1998 by Christa, Peter, and Christine Kamm and has made the holdings available to the Kunsthaus Zug on permanent loan.
