It has been managed by the Vereniging Natuurmonumenten since 1927 .It was created during the Saalian by advancing land ice. The harebell , small bird 's foot , sand blue , crested grass and strawberry clover can be found in the area and sand martins breed here.

De Linde is a river in South Friesland in the municipalities of Oost- and Weststellingwerf . Between the small lake Het Wijde and the village of Slijkenburg , it forms the natural border between Overijssel and Friesland. The source of the Linde is near Tronde . The Slotermeer is a lake in the southwest of the province of Friesland . The lake is sometimes only 1.20 meters deep outside the navigation channels. On the eastern side next to the fairway, the water depth is approximately 1 meter. The lake is often a bottleneck in the route: it freezes over relatively late and both cloning and ice transfer are impossible. One must therefore wait until the ice has grown naturally.

Museum Het Oude Raadhuis is housed in the former town hall of Urk from 1905. The museum illustrates the history of the former island Urk and its residents. A centerpiece in the museum is the authentic fisherman's house which is decorated as was common in the 20th century in Urk. The house includes a net loft, a well and a bedstead. In the summer, there are volunteers dressed in costumes in the house. Upstairs changing exhibitions are on display.

Urk Lighthouse is a lighthouse in Urk at the eastern banks of the IJsselmeer. From 1617 a coal fire was used for the local fishermen as well as for the ships sailing from Amsterdam to the North Sea. The current lighthouse station was established in 1837. The lighthouse was restored in 1972 and declared a national monument of the Netherlands in 1982. The tower can be visited during guided tours.

Weerribben-Wieden National Park is a national park in the Dutch province of Overijssel , municipalities of Steenwijkerland and Zwartewaterland . The national park is the largest continuous peat bog in northwestern Europe. Comprising the largest bog of Northwestern Europe, the park consists of two areas, De Weerribben and De Wieden; it has an area of roughly 100 square kilometres . The park was founded in 1992, although De Wieden was added later, in 2009.

De Wieden is a lake and marsh area in the municipality of Steenwijkerland in the Kop of the Dutch province of Overijssel . It is an excavated low moor area . The Belterwijde and Beulakerwijde are two large peat lakes that are part of this nature reserve . Together with the Weerribben , the Weerribben-Wieden National Park forms an area of approximately 9,500 hectares. Together, the two areas form one of the most important wetlands in Europe.
