Linde - 4 Things to Know Before Visiting

The Linde Valley is a nature reserve south of Wolvega in the province of Friesland. The first pieces of wetland came into the possession of It Fryske Gea around 1940. Until 2007, the nature conservation organization acquired 785 hectares in the stream valley of the river Linde.

De Rottige Meente is a Dutch nature reserve in the province of Friesland , along the border with Overijssel . It was created in the 19th century and 20th century by peat painting . The area is part of the main ecological structure of the Netherlands and is a Habitats Directive area . As of 2005 , more than 1000 ha in this area were owned by Staatsbosbeheer .

Woldberg is a striking hill in the flat Steenwijkerland just north of Steenwijk . The hill is largely wooded. Together with De Eese , the De Woldberg forest area is part of the Steenwijkerwold management unit of Staatsbosbeheer.There are also two fens in the forest area. In the past peat was extracted here. Plants such as Waterdrieblad grow here.The hill is clearly visible at the Steenwijk-Noord exit of the A32 , where you drive right along the hill.

The Belvedere of Oranjewoud is a belvedere in the Oranjewoud Park area east of Heerenveen. The octagonal watchtower has nine staircases of twelve steps and a height of eighteen meters. Adding the height of the knoll, the eye level of a person on the tower is almost thirty meters above ground level . This tower also fell into disrepair, but instead of demolition, the belvedere was restored after seventy years.

The Museum Belvédère is a museum for modern and contemporary art in Heerenveen , province of Friesland. The De Koloniehof museum is a memorial museum dedicated to the work of the Society of Benevolence , which founded various colonies in the then United Kingdom of the Netherlands in the first half of the 19th century as part of the fight against poverty. The museum shows the history of the origin of the colonies in Drenthe and Overijssel and the life of the settlers.
