Nufenen Pass

Nufenen Pass is the highest mountain pass with a paved road within Switzerland. It lies between the summits of Pizzo Gallina and the Nufenenstock. The pass road from Ulrichen in the canton of Valais leads to the Bedretto valley in the canton of Ticino, linking Brig to Airolo. It is not the lowest pass between the two valleys, as it is located one kilometer north of an unnamed slightly lower pass at 2,440 meters, which is traversed by a trail.

Oberalp Pass

The Oberalp Pass is located at the border between Disentis and Andermatt in the central region of the Swiss Alps near the famous Gotthard pass. The Rhine springs from a source nearby, which can be accessed by hiking two hours from Oberalp Pass. A multiday trekking route is signposted across Oberalp pass and along the young Rhine called Senda Sursilvana.

Not far from the top of the pass is the little resort of San Bernardino with its many opportunities for hiking and winter sports. For eastern Switzerland, the Bernardino route is an alternative to the Gotthard Pass as a way into the Ticino.

San Giacomo Pass

San Giacomo Pass is an international high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.313m above the sea level, located in the Lepontine Alps, on the Swiss-Italian border. On the Italian side, the road is extreme: full of hairpins, narrow, gravel, washed out and impassable from September to June. It's a 4x4 track. On the Swiss side, it’s just a walking path. Sanetsch Pass

One of the finest pass in the area at 26km in length and with a difference in altitude of 1690m, the pass road starts in Sion and could be compared to the famous Stelvio, but with less traffic. In the summer season, the pass is accessible by PostBus and can also be traversed by cable car. The highest point of the road is at 2,252 meters. One of the picturesque location in the area.
