't Mirnser Klif

The Mirnser Klif is a boulder clay ridge in the Frisian region of Gaasterland south of the place Mirns. The reef was created during the Saalian by advancing land ice and formed a natural sea ​​defense against the water of the Zuiderzee and now still against the water of the IJsselmeer . The average height is 2.50 meters above sea level.

Aekingerzand

The Aekingerzand is a vast area of sand drifts that is part of the Drents-Friese Wold National Park . The Aekingerzand is located near Appelscha in the border area of ​​the provinces of Drenthe and Friesland. Areas with drifting sand are relatively rare in the Netherlands. The Aekingerzand is one of those areas. On the edge of the area is a watchtower, which was built in 1995 by students of the Special Youth Work.

Ameland Nature Center

Ameland Nature Center is a nature museum in Nes on the Wadden Island of Ameland in the Dutch province of Friesland. The museum was founded in 1972 and has been located in Nes since 1989. The nature museum has had a zoo permit since 10 November 2004 . In 2009 the museum was housed in a new building with a watchtower.

Boschplaat, Terschelling

De Boschplaat is a nature reserve on the east side of the Dutch Wadden island of Terschelling . It measures approximately 10 by 5 kilometers and has been managed by Staatsbosbeheer since 1910 . The area has been awarded the European Diploma in Nature Management since 1970. The adjacent beach at the Boschplaat is really beautiful. We personally think this is the most beautiful piece of sandy beach on Terschelling. The beach is very wide and during our walk we hardly encountered any other people.

Dark Sky Park De Boschplaat

Dark Sky Boschplaat is an international Dark Sky Park on the De Boschplaat nature reserve , which is located on the eastern part of the Wadden island of Terschelling in the north of the Netherlands. Dark Sky areas are usually located in nature reserves where the air is still clean, there is silence and special animal and plant species live that benefit from an environment that is as natural as possible.

De Deelen

De Deelen is a vast complex of peat bogs in the lower middle of the Dutch province of Friesland , in the municipalities of Heerenveen and De Friese Meren. The Deelen consists of reed beds , draft holes with a relatively large amount of open water, thickets and grasslands. The lower middle of Friesland largely consisted of low peat swamps, which stretched south to the swamps of Northwest Overijssel.

De Hege Gerzen

De Hege Gerzen is a site for day recreation on the Liemerige Wei near Aldemardum . At the beach on the IJsselmeer is a pavilion. There is also a mini golf course and a field for volleyball and badminton .

De Vleijen

The Vleyen is a recreation and nature area on the northeast side of Nes on the Wadden Island Ameland . The area is managed by State Forest Management. In the area there are playgrounds, a cable car and fishing, canoeing and rowing ponds. There is a castle on the playground.

Kroon's Polders

The Kroon's Polders on the western part of the Wadden island of Vlieland were created between 1920 and 1925 at the initiative of the dune warden, later supervisor at Rijkswaterstaat Jan Wouter Kroon. Between 1898 and 1905 a number of drift dikes had been constructed close to the already existing Meeuwenduinen on the western part of Vlieland in order to enlarge the narrowing strip of dunes.

Lendevallei

The Linde Valley is a nature reserve south of Wolvega in the province of Friesland. The first pieces of wetland came into the possession of It Fryske Gea around 1940. Until 2007, the nature conservation organization acquired 785 hectares in the stream valley of the river Linde.

The National Landscape Noardlike Fryske Wâlden is an area of ​​over 25,000 hectares , part of the Frisian Woods , a region in the east of Friesland. The result of this bocage landscape is an intimate and small-scale feeling of seclusion. Such a landscape pattern is often seen in peat meadow areas, but nowhere in such a large size.

The Noordsvaarder, one of the most beautiful and varied nature reserves in Terschelling, includes the beach plain on the west side of Terschelling plus the entire dune area north of the cycle path to Paal 8. The Noordsvaarder has been a State Natural Monument since 1924 . One of the most important populations of the Green- knotted Orchid occurs in the Netherlands. Other rare plant species include Swamp Orchid , Parnassia, Button rush, and Flesh-colored orchid.

Oudemirdumer Klif

Oudemirdumer Klif is a nature reserve in the Gaasterland region in the Dutch province of Friesland .The Oudemirdumer Klif is located south of Oudemirdum on the southern boulder clay ridge in the National Landscape Southwest Fryslân. It has been managed by the Vereniging Natuurmonumenten since 1927 .It was created during the Saalian by advancing land ice. The harebell , small bird 's foot , sand blue , crested grass and strawberry clover can be found in the area and sand martins breed here.

Paezumerlannen

De Peazemerlannen is a nature reserve of 485 hectares near Paesens and Moddergat in the north of Friesland . This area outside the dykes is part of the Wadden Sea World Heritage and a transition area between the sea dyke and the mud flats of the Wadden Sea. The area is frequented by bird species such as brent goose , barnacle goose and avocet. The beaches created by the breached dike provide a breeding ground for some pairs of the ringed plover and the sand plover.

Richel

Richel is a permanently dry sandbank in the Wadden Sea, in the gap between the Dutch islands of Vlieland and Terschelling. The sandbank has an average surface area of 116 hectares. It is completely flooded only during extremely high tides. Richel is uninhabited and virtually barren. It is too low to support any permanent vegetation. The sandbank is only able to support some temporary colonisation by the grass species sand couch.

Rif

Rif is a sandbank in the Dutch Wadden Sea, lying between Ameland and Schiermonnikoog, north of Engelsmanplaat. The sandbank has an area of 0.9 square kilometres at high tide and is popular as a high-tide resting area for birds as well as for seals. Additionally, the sandbank is a breeding place for birds and seals use it to give birth on.

Rottige Meente

De Rottige Meente is a Dutch nature reserve in the province of Friesland , along the border with Overijssel . It was created in the 19th century and 20th century by peat painting . The area is part of the main ecological structure of the Netherlands and is a Habitats Directive area . As of 2005 , more than 1000 ha in this area were owned by Staatsbosbeheer .

Vijversburg

Vijversburg is a historic estate in the Dutch municipality of Tietjerksteradeel , located south of the national road N355 at the height of Zwartewegsend . It consists of a publicly accessible park around the villa Vijversburg and an overtuin . The estate is managed by the Op Toutenburg foundation. The park consists of lingering ponds and trails, an orchard , two bridges, a viewing hill, an island, park forest, and a stork 's nest site.

Vliehors

Vliehors is a widened beach of approximately 24 square kilometers, which is now largely used as a military training area for the Royal Netherlands Air Force , the only one in the Netherlands where air force pilots and NATO partners are allowed to practice with ammunition and explosive charges. The sandbar is located on the western half of the Wadden island of Vlieland . The operational designation of the Vliehors is Cornfield Range .
