Jotunheimen National Park is a national park in Norway, recognized as one of the country's premier hiking and fishing regions. The national park covers 1,151 square kilometres and is part of the larger area Jotunheimen. More than 250 peaks rise above an elevation of 1,900 metres, including Northern Europe's two highest peaks: Galdhøpiggen at 2,469 metres, and Glittertind at 2,465 metres.

Almost 1300 meters it rises straight up from Gjende, and if you come driving north over Valdresflye, you get a real impression of the dimensions. It is in the municipality of Lom in Innlandet county and in the Jotunheimen mountain area. During the ice ages, it was heavily glaciated and got its present form. The theory that the highest summits in Norway stayed above the ice as nunataks have been abandoned by most geologists.

A beautiful lake located near to the Jotunheimen mountain range. Along the lake, there are many tourist huts. In the summer these huts are connected by boat and in winter by ski or snowmobile. A memorial was raised in 1909 to the Norwegian poet Aasmund Olavsson Vinje at the western end of Lake.
