A beautiful lake located near to the Jotunheimen mountain range. Along the lake, there are many tourist huts. In the summer these huts are connected by boat and in winter by ski or snowmobile. A memorial was raised in 1909 to the Norwegian poet Aasmund Olavsson Vinje at the western end of Lake. It is beautifully situated on the peninsula Storøye on the banks of Lake Strandefjorden in Fagernes. The museum focuses especially on folk music and instruments, folk costumes, and the conservation of historical buildings.

Galdhøpiggen is the tallest mountain in Norway, Scandinavia, and Northern Europe, at 2,469 m above sea level. It is in the municipality of Lom in Innlandet county and in the Jotunheimen mountain area. During the ice ages, it was heavily glaciated and got its present form. The theory that the highest summits in Norway stayed above the ice as nunataks have been abandoned by most geologists.

By archeological excavations in 1973 interesting findings were made; more than 2.000 coins and a love message with carved runes on a stick and this church has the largest collection of paintings found in any Norwegian church, most of them done by Eggert Munch.
