Skogshorn - 4 Things to Know Before Visiting

Gardnos crater is 5 kilometers in diameter and was created when a meteorite with an estimated diameter of 200 to 300 meters struck 500 million years ago.

The Valdres Folkemuseum in Fagernes was founded in 1901 and with its 105 buildings it is one of the largest open-air museums in the country. It is beautifully situated on the peninsula Storøye on the banks of Lake Strandefjorden in Fagernes. The museum focuses especially on folk music and instruments, folk costumes, and the conservation of historical buildings.

It is one of the oldest open-air museums in Norway. The museum has 30 historic buildings and some 30,000 artifacts from the region of Hallingdal.

A friendly Peak to Trek near Beitostolen. Taking a bus or car towards Bygdin travel for approximately 10km. Park at the lap camp by the lake at Stavtjednet and follow the marked trek to the summit of Bitihorn. A beautiful place to have some nice time and a little bit of adventure.

A beautiful lake located near to the Jotunheimen mountain range. Along the lake, there are many tourist huts. In the summer these huts are connected by boat and in winter by ski or snowmobile. A memorial was raised in 1909 to the Norwegian poet Aasmund Olavsson Vinje at the western end of Lake. This is one of the nice tourist places in this area and a lot of people visits this place every day.

The nature park is known for its collection of various old livestock breeds and wild animals from the Norwegian fauna. Visitors experience exciting predator mammals like wolves and European lynxes, in addition to reindeer, moose, muskox, etc.
