The Maritime Center Abraham Fock is a museum in Hollum on the Wadden Island of Ameland . In the museum you can find a collection about navigation , radio communication and rescue operations. There is also a replica of a ship 's bridge and it is the base of the horse rescue boat . About fourteen times a year a demonstration is given from the center in which ten horses pull the lifeboat towards the beach southwest of Hollum. Artist Barbera Hofker-Esser made a tile tableauof the horse rescue boat.

Paardengraf Ameland is a grave for horses at Hollum on Ameland in the Dutch province of Friesland. The horses are buried in the dunes on the east side of the Lifeboat Path. It is not a horse grave with a deceased person. A memorial stone commemorates the disaster day. The stone of Swedish granite was donated to the island by the company Hoogenberg-Wegerif. The funerary monument was placed on Saturday morning December 15, 1979.

The cottage dates from 1890 and was built here as a shelter for castaways . If a ship was wrecked in a storm, they could reach the striking white-painted cottage where blankets, simple foodstuffs and water were stored. There was also a telephone connection with a post house more than eight kilometers away.

We personally think this is the most beautiful piece of sandy beach on Terschelling. The beach is very wide and during our walk we hardly encountered any other people.
