The ancient citadel is located on top of the rocky outcrop in Athens. The ruins lay magnificent, there is a lot of stuff going around here. Excavations, renovations etc.. A large part of Partheon for instance is covered in scaffolding. We visited at about 8.00 AM and by the time we were descending back at 9.30 AM, there were thousands and thousands of visitors pouring in. Very happy that we made the decision to be early(even when you are early, note that there are still a few hundred visitors reaching there at the same time. There are no uncrowded hours at Acropolis apparently. It can either be crowded or super crowded). Also, there are pretty much no shades here. The scorching summer sun will boil you inside out. It will be a very good idea to check the weather and if it's fully sunny, bringing more than a sufficient amount of sunscreen and taking an umbrella along wouldn’t harm either.
