Lac de Joux

It is the largest lake in Switzerland with a surface area of 9.5 km². The lake attracts countless visitors all year round; in summer mainly for water sports, biking and hiking and in winter for ice-skating and cross-country skiing.

Lac de Pérolles

Lac de Pérolles, a reservoir formed by Maigrauge Dam, is a reservoir on the Saane/Sarine river at Fribourg, in western Switzerland. Its surface area is 0.35 square kilometres. The dam was built in 1872, and its height was increased by 2.5 metres in 1910. The watershed is 1,250 square kilometres. The Maigrauge Dam has a gated spillway.

Lägh da Cavloc

A mountain lake in Graubünden near the Maloja Pass. The lake is located at 1907 m. above sea level and about two kilometers south of the pass road. A bath in the refreshing water is also worthwhile. At the lake, there are several barbecue areas and a restaurant. It is also a nice trekking destination too.

Lago Bianco

Lago Bianco or White Lake is a glacial lake situated at an elevation of 2,637 meters (8,650 feet), making it one of the highest-altitude lakes in the Alps. Lago Bianco is fed by several small glaciers, and its waters are a brilliant turquoise color due to the high concentration of minerals in the glacier melt.

Lago del Narèt is a high mountain lake in Val Sambuco, Ticino. The interesting feature of this lake is that it is not a naturally arising mountain lake, but a reservoir, formed in 1970 by the construction of two dams around the area. Several mountain streams flow into this lake, which in turn join the River Maggia. It can be easily accessed through the various hiking trails nearby and also offers outstanding views of the Lago del Sambuco and the top section including the dam itself.

Lago di Luzzone

Lago di Luzzone is a reservoir in Ticino, Switzerland. The reservoir has a volume of 108 million m³ and a surface area of 1.27 km2 (0.49 sq mi).[1] It is located in the upper Blenio valley, in the municipalities of Ghirone and Aquila. The reservoir lies at a height of 1,606 meters above sea level and is surrounded by peaks of over 3,000 meters. The arch dam Luzzone was completed in 1963. The course covers a vertical distance of 165 meters, going from the base of the dam to the top.

There is also some nice trekking areas around this lake. This place is blessed with natural beauty and you can have a picnic with your family here.

Lago Ritom

Lago Ritom is a lake in the Piora Valley, Ticino, Switzerland. The natural lake is used as a reservoir by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB-CFF-FFS) to generate hydro-electric power for the Gotthard line. The first dam was built in 1918 and, in 1950, its height was increased by 23 m. It is one of the beautiful picnic areas and also is suitable for fishing too.

Lai da Palpuogna is a mountain lake at Albula Pass in the municipality of Bergün, in the Grisons, Switzerland. In a 2007 television program of the Swiss channel SF 1, the lake was voted the most beautiful place in Switzerland. It was one of the picturesque locations and is an ideal place for a short picnic.

Lake Baldegg is one of our favorite lakes in Switzerland, with so many mountain peaks towering over the water and so much variety as you twist and turn around each corner. After all these years, it still makes me gasp with delight when we drive by or ride up a gondola to admire it from above.

Lake Cadagno

Lake Cadagno is a crenogenic meromictic lake located in the Swiss Alps at 1921 m asl with a maximum depth of 21 m. As one of a few meromictic lakes in Europe, it is the object of numerous scientific studies. Lake Cadagno is a rare example of crenogenic meromixis. Its waters show a permanent stratification due to a natural geological phenomenon.

Lake Davos

Lake Davos is a small natural lake at Davos, Switzerland. Its surface area is 0.59 km² and the maximum depth is 54 m. Fed by sources of the Rhine, Flüelabach and Totalpbach, among other mountain creeks, the lake is used as a hydropower reservoir; its water no longer flows to the river Landwasser but is channeled into the river Landquart at Klosters.

Lake Hallwil

Lake Hallwil is a lake largely in the Canton of Aargau, Switzerland. It is the largest lake in Aargau and lies mostly in the districts of Lenzburg and Kulm on the southern edge of the canton. The southern tip of the lake reaches into the canton of Lucerne. The main river leading to this lake is the Aabach, which is coming from the Lake Baldegg.

Lake Lauerzersee lies between the Rigi and Mythen massifs in the municipalities of Lauerz Schwyz and Steinen. The lake, which is 3 kilometres long and a maximum of 1 kilometre wide, lies at an altitude of 447 metres. With a maximum depth of 14 metres, it is one of the shallowest lakes in Switzerland.

Lake Lugano is at the southernmost tip of the Tessin, the holiday region south of the ridge of the Alps, and it reaches its arms out into Italy. Thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate, there are even citrus fruit trees growing here, and visitors can sunbathe under palm trees. The lake has a number of different branches and is surrounded by mountains. There are so many things to see in and around the lake.

Lake Lungern

Lake Lungern is a natural lake in Obwalden, Switzerland. It is nestled between impressive mountains and beautiful scenery. The lake is named after the town Lungern on its shore. Our accommodation was really close to it, so we spent several days exploring this area. There are so many things to do at Lake Lungern. It is a paradise for outdoor lovers.
