Carafa Castle

The Norman castle of Santa Severina also called Carafa or of Roberto il Guiscardo, the Norman king who ordered its construction in the eleventh century is a castle in the town of Santa Severina. Castello Aragonese of Reggio Calabria

The Aragonese castle of Reggio Calabria is the main fortification of the city, located in the homonymous Piazza Castello between via Aschenez and via Possidonea. It is considered, together with the Riace Bronzes, one of the main historical symbols of the city of Reggio. Since 1956 it has housed the observatory of the National Institute of Geophysics.

The Ruffo di Scilla castle, sometimes also known as the Ruffo di Calabria Castle, is an ancient fortification located on the Scillèo promontory, jutting out over the Strait of Messina. The castle constitutes the genius loci of the town of Scilla, about 20 km north of Reggio Calabria, and certainly one of the most characteristic and typical elements of the landscape of the Strait and the Reggio district. The castle also houses one of the lighthouses of the Navy, the lighthouse of Scilla.

The castle of Corigliano Calabro is a fortress dating back to the 11th century, located in Corigliano Calabro, in the municipality of Corigliano-Rossano, in the province of Cosenza. It has been defined as "one of the most beautiful and best-preserved castles existing in southern Italy". Today the castle is a national monument declared by law in 1927 and is a historical, artistic, and cultural museum of the entire community.

Norman Castle

The Norman castle of Ariano Irpino stands on the top of the homonymous hill at an altitude of 811 m asl, in the highest and most panoramic part of the city area. Built-in a strategic position and difficult to access, a crossroads between Irpinia, Sannio, and Puglia, the fortress dominates the valleys of Ufita , Miscano and Cervaro. As can be seen from the documents received up to the present day, its function was not so much to protect the city from possible attacks from neighboring areas.

San Niceto Castle

The Castle of San Aniceto is a Byzantine castle built in the early 11th century on a hill in Motta San Giovanni, in the current Italian province of Reggio Calabria. It is one of the few examples of early medieval architecture in Calabria, as well as one of the few well-preserved Byzantine fortifications in the world. Its name derives from the Byzantine admiral Nicetas Oryphas.

The sanctuary of Santa Maria Delle Armi is a monumental complex of medieval origin in Calabria. It is located in the territory of Cerchiara di Calabria on the slopes of Mount Sellaro at 1015 m above sea level with a view of the Sibari plain and the Gulf of Taranto. Today's sanctuary stands on an ancient Byzantine monastic site, on the slopes of Mount Sellaro, also known as the holy mountain.
