Val Bedretto - 4 Things to Know Before Visiting

Robièi, at the foot of the glacier Basòdino, is an alpine region of high altitude, rich with lakes, wildlife and exceptional flora. The Cristallina is a mountain of the Lepontine Alps, located in the Swiss canton of Ticino. It is situated between the valleys of Leventina, Val Bavona and Valle di Peccia the latter two belonging to the Valle Maggia. On the west side of the mountain is located the Passo Cristallina with the Cristallina Hut.

San Giacomo Pass is an international high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.313m above the sea level, located in the Lepontine Alps, on the Swiss-Italian border. On the Italian side, the road is extreme: full of hairpins, narrow, gravel, washed out and impassable from September to June. It's a 4x4 track. On the Swiss side, it’s just a walking path. Lago del Narèt is a high mountain lake in Val Sambuco, Ticino. The interesting feature of this lake is that it is not a naturally arising mountain lake, but a reservoir, formed in 1970 by the construction of two dams around the area. Several mountain streams flow into this lake, which in turn join the River Maggia. It can be easily accessed through the various hiking trails nearby and also offers outstanding views of the Lago del Sambuco and the top section including the dam itself.

The Basòdino is a mountain in the Lepontine Alps on the border between Italy and Switzerland. It is the second-highest peak in the canton of Ticino, after the Rheinwaldhorn. On its summit is located a geodetic point of IGM named 05A901 Monte Basodino. One of the beautiful trekking destination in this area and also it offers a panoramic view of the area from the summit.

Nufenen Pass is the highest mountain pass with a paved road within Switzerland. It lies between the summits of Pizzo Gallina and the Nufenenstock. The pass road from Ulrichen in the canton of Valais leads to the Bedretto valley in the canton of Ticino, linking Brig to Airolo. It is not the lowest pass between the two valleys, as it is located one kilometer north of an unnamed slightly lower pass at 2,440 meters, which is traversed by a trail.
