Morgarten is a village in the municipality of Oberägeri in the Swiss canton of Zug. The place is on the banks of the Ägeri lake and on the road from Oberägeri to Sattel. Originally the place was called Hauptsee. In 1905 it was renamed in connection with the commemoration of the Battle of Morgarten on November 15, 1315, and the erection of a battle memorial. The name was changed at the request of the Oberägeri-Morgarten Tourist Association by the Zurich District Post Office.
