Lake Lungern is a natural lake in Obwalden, Switzerland. It is nestled between impressive mountains and beautiful scenery. The lake is named after the town Lungern on its shore. Our accommodation was really close to it, so we spent several days exploring this area. There are so many things to do at Lake Lungern. It is a paradise for outdoor lovers.

The Brünig Pass, at an altitude of 1,008 m, connects the Bernese Oberland and central Switzerland, linking Meiringen in the canton of Bern and Lungern in the canton of Obwalden. It is on the watershed between the upper reaches of the Aare, which flows through Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, and the Sarner Aa, which flows into Lake Lucerne.

The geographical centre of Switzerland has the coordinates 46°48′4″N 8°13′36″ECoordinates: 46°48′4″N 8°13′36″E. It is located at Älggi-Alp in the municipality of Sachseln, Obwalden. The point is the centre of mass determined in 1988 by Swisstopo. As the point is difficult to access, a stone was set 500 m further south-east on Älggi Alp. The Höch Gumme is a mountain of the Emmental Alps in Switzerland. One of the beautiful places in this area and also tourist-friendly. the summit is shared between the municipalities of Giswil, to the north-west, Lungern to the east, and Hofstetten bei Brienz, to the south. Hofstetten bei Brienz is in the canton of Bern, whilst Giswil and Lungern are in the canton of Obwalden.

The Hochstollen is a mountain of the Urner Alps, located between the Klein Melchtal and the Melchtal in the canton of Obwalden. The border with the canton of Bern runs south of the summit. The closest locality is Melchsee-Frutt on its east side.

It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

Glogghus is located between the Swiss Canton of Obwalden and the Canton of Bern. It is a mountain of the Urner Alps and a very popular hiking area. The hike is equipped with cables for support against the wet rock slabs. Activities in the summer include walking, touring, biking, fishing, and climbing. In the winter skiing, snowboarding, night skiing, and sledging are available.

Melchsee is a lake in the canton of Obwalden, Switzerland. It lends its name to the resort Melchsee-Frutt, in the municipality of Kerns. At an elevation of 1891 m, its surface area is 54 ha. It is one of the main tourist destination in this area and a lot of people visits this place everyday.

Brienzer Rothorn offers breathtaking views of the Alps and features one of the more remarkable ways to go up or down a mountain - a steam-driven rack and pinion train that is still much as it was in 1891 when the railroad was built. Brienzer Rothorn is actually accessible from two sides, so you can easily make it roundtrip from Lucerne.

Tannensee is a reservoir in Obwalden, Switzerland. In 1958, Tannenbach and few other creeks were dammed with an earth-fill dam. The reservoir has a volume of 3.8 mio m³ and its surface area is 33 ha. The reservoir is used to generate electricity at Kraftwerk Hugschwendi in Kerns. It is one of the famous tourist attractions in this area and so many people cones here and spends their peisire time here.
