Urk Lighthouse is a lighthouse in Urk at the eastern banks of the IJsselmeer. From 1617 a coal fire was used for the local fishermen as well as for the ships sailing from Amsterdam to the North Sea. The current lighthouse station was established in 1837. The lighthouse was restored in 1972 and declared a national monument of the Netherlands in 1982. The tower can be visited during guided tours.

IJsseloog is an artificial island in the middle of the Ketelmeer that aims to store contaminated sludge from the bottom of the lake. It also has a recreation and nature development function. The island owes its name to its location in front of the mouth of the IJssel and to the shape of the sludge depot, round like an eye,so that the contact surface of the sludge depot with the environment is as small as possible. In addition, the word "oog" is an old Dutch word for island.
