Nicobar district is one of three districts in the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is the fifth least populous district in the country.
The Island presents varied natural panorama covered with virgin lush evergreen dense tropical forests extending from seacoast to the tip of the hills. This area is the home for the most endangered species, megapode as well as the edible-nest swiftlet (Collocalia fuciphaga).
