Foothills Art Center

Located in historic downtown Golden, Foothills Art Center leads and inspires the community through art, education, and cultural excellence with engaging exhibitions and dynamic arts programming for learners of all ages. The center is housed in an 1872 Gothic-style church, an 1892 Queen Anne style manse and a Victorian-era mansion built in 1899 – all surrounded by a sculpture garden at 809 15th Street in downtown Golden, Colorado.

Genesee Park is the largest of Denver's mountain parks and the first in the mountain park system. The park contains two mountains, Genesee Mountain at 8,284 feet above sea level and Bald Mountain at 7,988 feet above sea level. The park also contains forests of ponderosa pine, Douglas-fir, and lodgepole pine.

Golden Gate Canyon State Park is the ideal outdoor getaway perfect for a day or week-long excursion. The 12,119-acre Front Range park established in 1960 has 42 miles of hiking trails. Facilities include a visitor center, over 100 campsites and 125 picnic sites. Commonly seen wildlife includes mule deer, elk, black bear, mountain lion, Abert's squirrel and pine squirrel.

This is a beautiful lake park with so many amenities in this beautiful area. This park features Harriman Lake and the upland prairie habitat surrounding the lake. A 1.43 mile loop trail surrounds the lake and features interpretive stops that describe historical and natural features of the area. Improvements at the park have been intentionally limited to preserve the natural integrity of the park.

Hildebrand Ranch was a large cattle ranch and farm along Deer Creek southwest of Denver. After remaining in the hands of the Hildebrand family for more than a century, the ranch was condemned by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1971 for the construction of Chatfield Reservoir. The ranch sits on land that had been used for thousands of years as hunting, gathering, and camping grounds by Native inhabitants including the Ute, Cheyenne and Arapaho.

Lakeside Amusement Park is a famly friendly amusement park in Denver, Colorado. Lakeside has rides for all ages. The park's lavish 150-foot Tower of Jewels, lit with 16,000 light bulbs, is a square campanile with Venetian and Moorish overtones. It retains some of its original Victorian decor, as well as the 1940s Streamline Moderne redesign by Richard Crowther.

Lookout Mountain Park is a Denver Mountain Park located around 12 miles west of downtown Denver overlooking Golden, Colorado. It consists of 65.7 acres of evergreen wilderness atop Lookout Mountain, named for its being a favored lookout point of the native Ute Indian tribe. Lookout Mountain Park is the burial site of the internationally famous western frontiersman William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Mason Creek Trail is mostly smooth doubletrack with very moderate grades. About a half mile into the trail, you'll hike through a stunning aspen grove, which is worth the trip in and of itself. Soon the trail narrows, becomes rocky, and begins to follow a creek. The final few miles are relatively unremarkable doubletrack that terminates in the parking lot.

Matthews/Winters Park, which is part of the Jefferson County Open Space system, is proof that you do not have to go far from the city to enjoy the mountains. You can explore the old headstones along the Village Walk. A creek weaves through the park, feeding the fragrant wild plums and willows. The trails are not too difficult, though the Morrison Slide is a bit of a climb.

Mines Museum of Earth Science

The Mines Museum of Earth Science, is a geology museum based in the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado. The museum has two floors in which it displays fossils, gemstones, meteorites, minerals, and mining artifacts, including the Colorado lunar sample displays. The museum acts as the Colorado state repository for mineral heritage.
