The Spiegelwaal is a secondary channel of approximately 4 kilometers in the Waal near Nijmegen. The channel was constructed between 2013 and 2015 as part of the Room for the Waal project. The Spiegelwaal is not a through route for shipping. The water is therefore particularly suitable for water sports such as canoeing, rowing, windsurfing and sailing. A rescue brigade is also active for water sports enthusiasts and recreational swimming.
