L ' Alcantara is a river of Sicily east along 53 kilometers, a tributary of the Ionian Sea. Its water basin extends for about 603 km² in the territory of the metropolitan cities of Messina and Catania and is protected by the Alcantara River Park Authority. The Fonte Aretusa is a mirror of water on the island of Ortigia , in the oldest part of the Sicilian city of Syracuse . Its origin is the development of one of the many outlets of the water table located in the Syracusan area, the aquifer that also feeds the Ciane river on the opposite side of the port. It has a double circular shape, with a circular structure inside, that is a double concentric circle.
The Madonie Park is a protected natural area established in 1981. It includes the massif of the Madonie, situated on the northern coast of Sicily, between the rivers Imera and Pollina. The park is home to over half of Sicilian plant species, and in particular most of those present only in Sicily. The site was included in the network of Global Geoparks of ' Unesco the 17 November 2015, during the 38th Plenary Session of the General Conference held in Paris.
The Simeto is, in terms of basin width, the main river of Sicily, while in length it is second after the southern Hymera. Also present in ancient mythology with a very rich population of gods.
