Affenberg Landskron

The Affenberg Landskron is a zoo in Villach and at the same time Austria's largest monkey enclosure with around 160 Japanese macaques . The keeping of animals is semi-free compared to other zoos, which means that the animals live in a fenced, wooded property, which represents a 40,000 m² habitat for the monkeys. The Affenberg is a category A zoo operation under Austrian law. It has around 120,000 visitors annually and does not receive any public funding.
