The name is derived from "Mizo", the name of the native inhabitants, and "Ram", which means land, and thus Mizoram means "land of the Mizos". The waterfall is named after an excellent swimmer, named Vantawnga. The Vantawng waterfall is located in the Vanva River and is 137 away from the capital city of Aizawl.
