The entire city was mostly built up by romans in 6th and 7th century BC. There are huge ruins of ancient Roman temples, churches, mosques, bath houses, Roman theatres and so on.

Do not miss this place if you are in Jordan, it's only an hour drive from capital Amman. And also, the structures and the whole area of the ancient city is very large so you will have to walk around three to four hours to really know the place. This is one of the most amazing places I have ever been.
