Morvan Regional Natural Park is a protected area of woodlands, lakes, and traditional farmland in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of central France. It covers a total area of 285,000 hectares and extends through four different departments with the majority being in Nièvre. The area was officially designated as a regional natural park in 1970. The Lake Pannecière or reservoir-lake Pannecière-Chaumard is an artificial lake located in the department of Nièvre in Burgundy, Franche-Comté, in the western part of the natural region of Morvan. Haut-Folin is the highest point in the region of Burgundy in France. It is the summit of the Morvan mountain range. It forms part of the drainage divide between the Seine and Loire rivers. It is located in the commune of Saint-Prix. There is a 40 km of cross-country skiing ski resort. One of the nice trekking destinations in this area and also a good picnic spot.

The Beuvray mount , which rises to 821 meters, is part of the Massif du Morvan in Burgundy and Franche-Comte . On its flanks is the Museum of Celtic Civilization, opened to the public in 1996.

The original castle was built by Jean de Saillenay in 1180, on the site of a Roman outpost guarding the road between Autun and the administrative center of Gallia Lugdunensis, now Sens. Today it is private property, and classified as a listed Historic building.
