The pass road has a maximum grade of 6 percent. The pass was probably already used by the Romans. In 1993, Roman artifacts were discovered at the pass. It also lies close to the Roman settlement of Augusta Raurica.

The Neu-Homburg Castle is housed within the Laufelgingen municipality of the Basel-Country canton of Switzerland. Designated as a site of national heritage and significance, the castle is a popular tourist spot. Though ruined, the spot nonetheless retains its original glory and beauty.
