The Founder's Memorial is a monument and visitor centre in the capital and it is a memorial to H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first President of the United Arab Emirates who died in 2004. Zayed was the driving force behind the formation of the United Arab Emirates, becoming the Union's first President which he held around 33 years.
This luxurious presedential place won the World Travel Awards as the main cultural attraction in the Middle East. Qasr Al-Watan is the Presidential Palace of the United Arab Emirates and was opened to the public on March 11, 2019. Prior to its opening, the palace was used only for official purposes, for hosting foreign leaders of states, and for meetings of the country's supreme council and federal cabinet. The palace continues to be used for these purposes even after it was opened to the public
