About Kota Johor Lama
This was the best defense built along Johor during the time of Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah II (1528-1564). It was built to fight the external invading forces. The fort was in its peak power during the year of 1,511 when Johor became the ruling center and the fort was used to counter-attack the Portuguese position in Malacca.
