11 Attractions to Explore Near Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary

Mae Wong is situated in the Dawna Range, West of Thailand in Nakhon Sawan and Kamphaeng Phet provinces. The park is rugged and hilly with the highest peak Khao Mo Ko Chu at 1,964 m., one of highest in Thailand. It is one of the best places in Thailand for birdwatching, home to many rare birds.

It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1972, and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991 together with the adjoining Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary. The wildlife sanctuary stretches over an area of about 3,647.2 kilometer square and is the largest protected area in Thailand.

Khlong Lan National Park is situated in the Dawna Mountain Range. This park lies in Kamphaeng Phet Province, the West of Thailand. The park is rugged and hilly along the Dawna Range and is covered by fertile forest. Each mountain connects to Khun Khlong Lan, the highest peak at 1,439 metres above sea level. It's the origin of Khlong Khlung and Khlong Suan Mak, the tributaries of the Ping River. The famous places in the park are Khlong Lan and Khlong Nam Lai Waterfalls.

Thi Lo Su Waterfallis is claimed to be the largest and highest waterfall in Thailand.

Phu Toei national park is located in the north-western tip of Suphanburi province. It is home to waterfalls, caves, river streams, hills covered with dry and moist evergreen forests.

Wat Sangkat Rattana Khiri is a Buddhist temple that lies at the foot of Khao Sakae Krang in Uthai Thani province. The temple features an ancient bronze Buddha image that dates back to the Sukhothai period.

Khlong Wang Chao was founded on August 29, 1990 after 2-year survey of the area of Khlong Wang Chao and Khlong Suan Mak forests. Most of the area consists of mountains lying along the north and south and there is a plain area in their middle. The important mountain ranges are Yen mountain, Tao Dam mountain, Tad Roop Kai mountain and others. The park stretches from about 300 m to the Yen mountain, the highest peak at 1898 m above the sea level.

It is the earth dam built to restore water from Kra Siao Stream. It is the longest earth dam in Thailand and large breeding ground.

Chai Nat Bird Park is the largest aviary in Asia, where over 100 bird species live and flourish in natural surroundings. Over 60 other cages of birds populate the park. Small man-made waterfalls, gardens, a snake park, a rabbit park, and a wild animal park provide additional interesting sites to visit.
