About Indira SagarDam (Punasa Dam)

This is Asia's prestigious hydropower project built over the river Narmada. The construction of the main dam started in 1992. The site features a concrete gravity dam which is 92 metre tall and 653 metre long. it withholds the largest reservoir in India, with a capacity of 12.22 billion cu m . The dam was built as a joint venture between Madhya Pradesh irrigation and National Hydroelectric Power Corporation. It was commissioned on May 2005.
