The Catholic Diocese of Rockford, was established in 1908 and is home to over 450,000 Catholics throughout the region. The Pettit Memorial Chapel, is a stunning place of worship built and lovingly maintained by the members of the church. Built in 1929 with construction funds provided by Mr. and Mrs. George W. Pettit, it is a classic example of Colonial-Revival style architecture featuring a steeply pitched gable roof and four interior columns wide enough to reach the ceiling. Inside, visitors are usually awe-struck by the breadth of the magnificent stained glass window extending 40 feet up each side wall.

The Boone County Museum of History provides its visitors with a wealth of information about the history of Boone County, Illinois. Located in Belvidere, this educational institution covers a range of topics from the Native Americans who first resided in the area to more recent issues related to industry and immigration. Visitors can explore seven permanent exhibits that showcase local artifacts, as well as rotating exhibitions highlighting uncommon stories from Boone County's past.

Mercyhealth Sportscore Two in Rockford, is an incredible place for sports and events of all kinds. This complex houses six indoor soccer fields, a field house, four bass fishing lakes and an outdoor amphitheater with seating for 800. It is easy to find something fun at Sportscore Two; it hosts both professional and amateur sporting events year-round. The facility has become a true destination in the region, drawing crowds from miles around to watch the hot air balloon festivals.

Blackhawk Springs Forest Preserve Set between Stone Bridge Trail and Roscoe Road, the preserve offers over 668 acres of lush forests, rolling meadows and sparkling spring ponds. From spring through fall, visitors can hike the trails, view wildlife, observe wildflowers and take part in bird watching activities. Fishing is also a popular activity with anglers gathering around Blackhawk Spring’s many fishing spots to attempt to catch one of their local varieties such as walleye or bluegill.

Snow Park at Alpine Hills, is a great place for winter fun. With one of the largest outdoor tubing hills in the area, and miles of groomed cross-country skiing trails, this park offers something for everyone regardless of age or skill level. During the summer months, Snow Park transforms to an adventure park with obstacles, zip lines and more. The park also has its own food court where visitors can purchase snacks and warm up after a day of skiing or running the adventure course.
