Turn left onto Trout Lake Road and follow it for another 2.5 miles to the trailhead. The hike to Trout Lake is relatively easy, with only a few hundred feet of elevation gain over the course of 1.5 miles. However, the trail can be quite steep in places and may not be suitable for everyone. 

There is no entrance fee to explore Trout Lake in San Miguel County, Colorado. However, there is a parking fee of $3 per vehicle.

 It is open to the public for fishing and camping from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
