It is the largest wetland bird sanctuary in Gujarat, and one of the largest in India. It was declared a bird sanctuary in April 1969. Mainly inhabited by migratory birds in winter and spring, The lake attracts over 210 species of birds in the winter and harbors a variety of plants and animals.

Nalsarovar Lake is one of the three reservoirs that flank the area of Sasan-Gir. It is home to several water birds and migratory birds due to which it is also known as the birdwatchers paradise. The most popular species of birds seen at this lake include pied woodpecker, black-headed cuckoo, eagles and many others. There is also a small temple of Lord Krishna near this lake.
Thol Lake is an artificial lake near Thol village . It was constructed as an irrigation tank in 1912. It is a fresh water lake surrounded by marshes. It was declared the Thol Bird Sanctuary in 1988; it is a habitat to 150 species of birds, about 60% are waterbirds. Many migratory birds nest and breed in the lake and its periphery.
It is a nature discovery center, Sundarvan as you walk lightly round bamboo grooves and a banyan tree you might spot a tortoise blocking off your way or a love bird buzzing away or maybe a snake skin resting by means of the pond. This natural refuge is indeed a mini zoo dedicated to spreading awareness and sensitivity towards nature. It is most acknowledged for the type of snakes like Russel's viper, Red Sand boa and the revered Indian cobra.
Vastrapur Lake is situated in western part of Ahmedabad. It is officially named after Narsinh Mehta.Every weekend, many people visit this lake. It currently boasts an open-air theater and children's park. There is a pathway all around the lake which serves many walkers and joggers in the early mornings and in the evenings.
