Sonnenborgh Observatory is an astronomical observatory and museum open to the public, located in Utrecht, Netherlands. It was founded in 1853 as a university observatory and from 1854 until 1897 it was the first home of the Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute.

The Spoorwegmuseum or the Dutch Railway Museum has been located since 1954 in the Maliebaan station built in 1874 on the Oosterspoorweg in the city of Utrecht. Its collection mainly contained images, documentation and track attributes. In 1935 the museum moved to NS-Hoofdgebouw I at the Moreelsepark . In the 1930s, the first initiatives were taken to preserve old railway equipment of historical importance. As a result of the war conditions, some of these were lost after all.
