National Park De Maasduinen - 4 Things to Know Before Visiting

The Reindersmeer is a dug lake in the Limburg municipality of Bergen. It has been managed by the municipality of Bergen since 2001 and has been part of the Maasduinen Park ever since. To prevent the surrounding agricultural land from drying out, a lock has been constructed in the canal between the Reindersmeer and Leukermeer. At least 22,500 ships carrying sand and gravel have sailed through the canal.

The Maasheggen are a landscape and a chain of nature reserves on the Meuse between the Noord-Brabant town of Vierlingsbeek and Batenburg in Gelderland. There is no area in Europe where nature, landscape, economy and culture are so visibly intertwined with such an impressive history. As a result, the Maasheggen has been granted the status of UNESCO Man & Biosphere. The only one in the Netherlands with this unique title.

De Hamert is an estate and nature reserve in the municipality of Bergen in the Dutch province of Limburg. The more than 1000 ha estate with forest, heath and water is owned by the foundation Het Limburgs Landschap. De Hamert is part of De Maasduinen National Park. The area is crisscrossed with walking routes and popular with bird watchers.

The Overloon War Museum is located in Overloon, Netherlands. The museum is set in 14 hectares of woodland. A feature of the museum is the large number of military vehicles and equipment on display, both German and Allied. For years these have been kept in the open air, but have recently been moved indoors in order to help preserve them. Many of the exhibited vehicles took part in the Battle of Overloon.

ZooParc Overloon is a zoo located in the North Brabant village of Overloon .The animal enclosures are furnished in a way that mimics nature. A number of lodgings are accessible to visitors. The botanical garden , which has been open since 1986 and which had a special collection of herbs, closed in 2014. Like the butterfly garden, this garden had to make way for housing.

The Heijderbos is a bungalow park in Heijen in Dutch Limburg . The park is operated by Center Parcs. The park is the first Center Parcs park to have a wild water course in the subtropical swimming paradise. The bungalow park was renovated in 1987. For example, the park center was covered. This park has the fastest whitewater course in all of Center Parcs. The Jungle Dome of the Heijderbos has a partnership with the World Wildlife Fund.
