Museum De Grutterswinkel is a museum in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden. The grocery store is located in a five - bay building from 1596. The facade has a checkered cornice and the central window is decorated with Rococo carvings . The building is a national monument . It was a mayor's residence and housed a coppersmith . In 1901 , the Feenstra family started out as a wholesaler in groats and colonial goods . Later it became a shop.
