The Hinterau Valley runs from Scharnitz in the eastern end of the valley, the Rossloch , over a length of 14 km . From Scharnitz, the valley is bounded to the north for a few kilometers by the northern link of the Karwendels, it is then interrupted by the Karwendeltal , the valley where the Karwendelbach flows, and to the east by the Hinterautal-Vomper link.
