Karwendeltal - 4 Things to Know Before Visiting

The Hinterau Valley runs from Scharnitz in the eastern end of the valley, the Rossloch , over a length of 14 km . From Scharnitz, the valley is bounded to the north for a few kilometers by the northern link of the Karwendels, it is then interrupted by the Karwendeltal , the valley where the Karwendelbach flows, and to the east by the Hinterautal-Vomper link. The southern limit is formed by the Gleirsch-Halltal link.

The Große Arnspitze is the highest peak in the Arnspitze Group in the Wettersteingebirge mountains. It is located west of Scharnitz in Austria. The border between Germany and Austria runs over its summit.The normal climbing route, runs from Scharnitz westwards and below the Ahrntalköpfle to the Riedberg. Below this mountain the path bends to the southwest from the Arnspitzhütte, whence it heads northwest to the summit.
