The McKechnie Institute is located at the intersection of Ailsa Street and Dalrymple Street in the town of Girvan in South Ayrshire. Ailsa Craig is an island in the Firth of Clyde off the coast of Ayrshire in Scotland. Ailsa Craig is now uninhabited, the lighthouse having been automated in 1990. The quarry is still operated from time to time, but there are no resident workers.
