The Howff Cemetery, now a protected monument on Ward Road, Dundee City, was formerly an orchard of the Greyfriars' monastery, and was licensed to be used as a burial ground by Mary Queen of Scots in 1564. It also contains a high number of inscriptions which philosophise on death itself rather than discussing the person interred.
