Battle Abbey is a partially ruined Benedictine abbey in Battle, East Sussex, England. The abbey was built on the site of the Battle of Hastings and dedicated to St Martin of Tours. It is a Scheduled Monument. Much of the battlefield became part of the abbey’s great park, which formed the core of a country estate after the abbey’s suppression in 1538.

Hastings Pier is a national treasure brought back to life. It reimagines the Victorian pleasure pier as a sustainable, flexible platform able to accommodate a broad range of community and commercial uses. It was also the winner of the 2017 RIBA Stirling Prize, the UK’s top architecture award. The structure suffered major storm damage in 1990, and was closed to the public for a time before closing completely in 2008,[1] and 95% destroyed by a fire in 2010.
