This beautiful island is just off the coast south of Rome and you can reach it by ferry from Anzio, Terracina, and Formia. The main center of the island is the port of Ponza, which stands towards the southern end of the eastern coast and is the seat of the commune. It is one of the beautiful locations in this area which is famous among tourists.
Circeo Mountain is an isolated promontory on the southwestern coast of Italy on the Tyrrhenian Sea, just northwest of the Gulf of Gaeta. About 33 square miles are preserved as a national park that is notable for its flora. The entire coast of Lazio, on which the mountain and the marsh are located, was a chain of barrier islands that were formed on a horst and made part of the mainland by sedimentation of the intervening graben.
The Garden Museum of Lady Walton, commonly known as La Mortella, is a garden created by Susana Walton, wife of the English composer William, in Forio, in the western part of the island of Ischia. Since 1990 the garden has been open to the public. Tropical and Mediterranean plants were planted and some have now reached considerable proportions. The gardens include views over the city and harbor of Forio.
The Bay of Sorgeto is located in Panza, a hamlet of the Municipality of Forio on the Island of Ischia. It is a natural inlet that forms a free open-air thermal park open to the public all year round. Due to the thermal nature of its boiling waters, it is possible to immerse yourself in it all year round. The bay is characterized by the presence of hot and mineral springs, saunas, and therapeutic vapors.
The Epomeo is a volcano Italian, which is the highest of 'mountain island of Ischia with its 789 meters. From a geological point of view, Mount Epomeo is a volcano-tectonic horst inserted in the center of a complex system of active faults and whose lifting process began about 100,000 years ago. Much of Epomeo is covered in lush greenery, with a few vineyards also occupying its slopes. Approximately 75 meters from the peak the mountain is covered in white lava.
The castle of Venosa is a historic fortified building of the homonymous municipality in the province of Potenza . Commonly called Aragonese as it was built by Duke Pirro del Balzo during the period of the Aragonese dynasty , it is located at the southern end of the plateau occupied by the urban extension of the city.
