The Founder's Memorial is a monument and visitor centre in the capital and it is a memorial to H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first President of the United Arab Emirates who died in 2004. Zayed was the driving force behind the formation of the United Arab Emirates, becoming the Union's first President which he held around 33 years.
