One of the most famous temples in Pune, Chaturshringi Mountain is located on the top of a hill right on the Senapati Bapat Road. It is said to have been built during the reign of the Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle. The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Chaturshringi, also known as Goddess Ambareshwari. To reach the main sanctum of the temple, tourists will have to climb approximately 100 stairs but the view of the hill that one gets from the top is worth all the efforts.
Matheran is a bewitching hill station, situated on the Western Ghat mountain range in Maharashtra. The temple is situated at 4659 feet above sea level, on a hill surrounded by seven peaks. It is considered to be Ardha Shaktipeeth out of Sadetin Shakti Peeths in Maharashtra. The figure of the goddess is about eight feet high,carved in relief out of the natural rock. The Saptashringi hill has variety of flora having medicinal worth.There are various kunds like Kalikund, Suryakund and Dattatraya Kund.
This is a hill fortress located around 35 km southwest of Pune. Some of the information available at this fort suggests that the fort could have been built 2000 years ago. The caves and the carvings in the Kaundinyeshwar temple stand as proofs for the same. The walls and bastions were constructed only at key places. There are two gates to enter the fort, the Kalyan Darwaza and Pune Darwaza which are positioned at the south east and north-east ends respectively.
