Balboa Park

1,200-acre (490 ha) urban cultural park. In addition to open space areas, natural vegetation zones, green belts, gardens, and walking paths, it contains museums, several theaters, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo.

Hakone Estate and Gardens

18-acre (7.3 ha) traditional Japanese garden recognized as one of the oldest Japanese-style residential garden in the Western Hemisphere. Notable features include a bamboo garden, a Zen garden, a strolling garden (the Hill and Pond Garden), tea houses, and the Cultural Exchange Center.

Runyon Canyon Park

60-acre (65 ha) park with numerous hiking trails. Because of its proximity to residential areas of Hollywood and the Hollywood Hills, celebrity sightings are common here.

San Diego Botanic Garden

At 37 acres (150,000 m2), the garden includes rare bamboo groves, desert gardens, a tropical rainforest, California native plants, Mediterranean climate landscapes, and a subtropical fruit garden.

Santa Ana River Trail

The Santa Ana River Trail is a 12-foot wide path following the Santa Ana River, a waterway that is cement-lined through much of Orange County but free flowing in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. When completed, it will be the longest multi-use trail in Southern California, at approximately 100 mile. In 1989, the Los Angeles Times described the path as "a veritable freeway for bicycles".

Walk Of Fame

Comprises more than 2,600 five-pointed terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalks along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street in Hollywood, California. The stars are permanent public monuments to achievement in the entertainment industry, bearing the names of a mix of musicians, actors, directors, producers, musical and theatrical groups, fictional characters, and others.
