This industrial landmark is located in Völklingen, Saarland, and was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage site in 1994. It was planned as a steelworks and built between 1873 and 1881 by Julius Buch and closed in 1986. It is one of the anchor points in the European Route of Industrial Heritage.

Hall of fame that honours laudable and distinguished people in German history – "politicians, sovereigns, scientists and artists of the German tongue". The hall is a neo-classical building above the Danube River and displays some 65 plaques and 130 busts covering 2,000 years of history, beginning with Arminius, victor at the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in AD 9.

The Weißensee Cemetery is the second largest Jewish cemetery in Europe, containing 115,000 graves covering an area of 100 acres. The cemetery was dedicated in 1880 and at present it contains a Holocaust memorial and memorial to Jews who lost their lives during World War I.

A historically important church with role in East Germany's resistance movement and it's punk scene. The Zion Church now also serves as a artspace. On sundays visitors can climb up to the top of the church tower with a small fee.
