2 Mountain Passes to Explore in Bhutan

Chelela Pass is the highest motorable point in Bhutan, sitting 3988 metres above sea level, between the Haa and Paro valleys. The pass is located 35 km from Paro and 26 km from Haa on the Bondey-Haa Highway. Built in the 1990s, the asphalt road is narrow and steep, with hundreds of turns and sheer drops. Thrumshing La, also called Thrumshingla Pass and Donga Pass, is the second-highest mountain pass in Bhutan, connecting its central and eastern regions across the otherwise impregnable Donga range that has separated populations for centuries.
