Gore CanyonGore Canyon is an isolated is a 3-mile isolated canyon along the upper Colorado River, just southwest of Kremmling. The Colorado descends from approximately 7,300 ft to approximately 7,000 ft over the length of the canyon. The steep walls ascend approximately 1,000 ft on either side. The canyon effectively marks the southwestern end of the Middle Park basin in north central Colorado.
Hugh Taylor Birch State ParkAmong the wildlife of the park are the gopher tortoise, eastern indigo snake, butterflies, and turtles. Visitors also can see gray squirrels, marsh rabbits, and opossums, as well as more than 200 species of wading birds, hawks, and ducks. Recreational activities include canoeing, bicycling, fishing, swimming, Segway tours and group camping. Visitors can also enjoy inline skating, hiking, picnicing, and wildlife viewing.
Saint Regis Canoe AreaThe St. Regis Canoe Area, located in Franklin County, NY, is a protected wilderness area perfect for camping and canoeing. Established in 1895 by the Adirondack Park Commission, it covers over 13 square miles of lakes, rivers and streams with nearly 80 different campsites along its shorelines. Visitors will find an abundance of opportunity to explore nature with trails for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing.
Teal LakeTeal Lake is a 50-acre lake surrounded by a rocky shoreline and pine-fir forest. The lake is popular for trout fishing and lies close to a wilderness area with a variety of hiking and off-highway vehicle trails. Outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, hunting, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing. There’s also some nice OHV trails in the area.
