Fort Vasquez

Fort Vasquez, is a historical treasure. The site served as a fur trading post from 1835-1841 and was built to provide a safe place for traders to rest. It was the first United States establishment in what is now Colorado and sits on the South Platte River near what is now known as the city of Greeley. Although it was used for only six years before being abandoned, today Fort Vasquez has been reconstructed and restored for use by groups such as museums, schools, and interpretive centers.
