Forests to Explore in Adams County

A vast National Wildlife Refuge located adjacent to Commerce City, Colorado, which is nearly 17,000 acres, making it one of the largest urban wildlife refuges in the United States. It consists of open lakes, wetlands, prairie grasslands, and woodlands. More than 330 species of wildlife inhabit the refuge, including raptors, deer, raccoons, coyotes, white pelicans, black-footed ferrets, black-tailed prairie dogs, and bison. It is an iconic location with national importance.
