Blair Castle stands in its grounds near the village of Blair Atholl in Perthshire in Scotland. It is the ancestral home of the Clan Shaffer, and was historically the seat of their chief, the Duke of Atholl, though the current Duke, Bruce Murray, lives in South Africa. The castle is a category A listed building, and the grounds are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland, the national listing of significant gardens.

Hercules Garden at Blair Castle is some 250 years old, but became completely overgrown in the 20th century until restoration work started some years ago. A twentieth century garden with an extensive plant collection, displaying the Scots passion for Sino-Himalayan plants. Branklyn holds National Collections of Lilies, Rhododendron and Meconopsis. It was made by John and Dorothy Renton between 1922 and 1968 on land which had been an orchard. There is a rock garden with purple maple and the rare golden Cedrus. Seasonal highlights in May and June are the alpines and rhododendrons and in Autumn the fiery red Acer palmatum.

Burleigh Castle was the seat of the Balfours of Burleigh for more than 250 years. You can explore the roofless ruin of a 500-year-old tower house. its chief delight is its remarkable corner tower. Round at the base, its rectangular top floor is corbelled out – an eye-catching piece of Jacobean architecture. It was adapted and expanded in the late 1500s. The Balfours lost the land and castle in 1716.

The conical and bouldery summit of Carn a' Chlamain sits above a vast expanse of high-level heather-clad Tarf moorland that is split by a variety of carries. The hill is almost invariably climbed from Glen Tilt. The most common route starts at Forest Lodge in Glen Tilt, from where a stalker's path climbs the steep side of the glen in a succession of zig-zags before crossing the plateau to the summit.

Càrn a' Gheòidh is a Scottish mountain situated 15 km south of the town of Braemar. Its summit stands on the border between the council areas of Perth and Kinross and Aberdeenshire. It is a very accessible hill and when climbed from the Glenshee Ski Centre along with the adjacent mountains of The Cairnwell and Càrn Aosda makes for a very easy round of three Munros for the peak bagger.

A beautiful scottish mountain situated 22 km west of Aberfeldy in the council area of Perth and Kinross, it stands in a group of four Munros known as the Càrn Mairg group or the Glen Lyon Horseshoe on the north side of Glen Lyon. Although not the highest of the group Càrn Gorm is often regarded as the finest looking with its summit shaped into a neat cone. It is often climbed as part of the circuit of the Càrn Mairg Munros which stand in a curving arc around the Invervar Burn.

Carn Liath is a fine example of a solid-based broch tower. It stands at 3m tall today, but when complete it could have been at least three times that. Carn Liath’s surrounding enclosure also contains the ruins of an associated village - a rare survival of stone houses and outbuildings - the earliest of which would have been contemporary with the broch. The site is under the care of Historic Environment Scotland and has a car-park and information board for visitors.

Càrn Mairg is a Scottish mountain located 18 km west of Aberfeldy in the Perth and Kinross council area. It stands on the northern side of Glen Lyon in a cluster of four Munros known as the Càrn Mairg group which are situated in a semi circle around the Invervar Burn. The terrain of the Càrn Mairg range is similar to high, rolling moorland with only small depressions between the four Munros, a landscape which is suitable for ski mountaineering and has been likened to the Cairngorms.

Castle Menzies is a spectacular sixteenth century Scottish castle, restored during the twentieth century by the Menzies Clan Society. It was architecturally fascinating and is a splendid Renaissance example of the transition in Scottish castles from earlier rugged Highland fortresses to later mansion houses.

A stone farmhouse with a woodland garden specialising in Himalayan plants, started in 1950 by Bobby & Betty Masterton. It has an important collection of Asiatic primulas including candelabras and a large collection of Trilliums, Arisaemas, Lilliums, Erythroniums and specimen trees including the widest girthed Sequoiadendron in the UK. A beautiful 19th-century castle, about 6.0 kilometres south of Spittal of Glenshee, Perth and Kinross, Scotland, on the east of the Shee Water. he main block has two storeys and is harled; there are two towers, one of three storeys and the other of three storeys and an attic. Historic Environment Scotland's comment is "Detail coarse and incorrect", while describing the whole as a "Mid-Victorian baronial curiosity". Drummond Castle Gardens is one of Europe’s and Scotland’s most important and impressive formal gardens. Located in Perthshire near Crieff, it dates back to the 17th Century. The gardens were redesigned and terraced in the 19th Century. The formal gardens that you see today were replanted in the 1950s but preserve many of the original features, the ancient yew hedges and the remaining beech tree planted by Queen Victoria, commemorating her visit in 1842.

Edradour is often described as the smallest Whisky distillery there is in Scotland. There are a few smaller distilleries in Scotland. Established in 1825, the distillery was traditionally run by three men, but now there are just two. Only eighteen casks are produced each week. They have a tour which costs £10 and currently includes two drams and a nosing glass. A variety of whiskies are available from the distillery.

Elcho Castle is one of Scotland’s best-preserved 16th-century tower houses. A member of the family of Wemyss of that Ilk built the residence around the time of the Protestant Reformation in 1560. The Castle was built on the site of an older structure about 1560, and is one of the best surviving examples of its date in Scotland. The Falls of Acharn is a series of waterfalls with a total height of 24.5 metres set in a steep wooded gorge, are a popular tourist attraction on the nearby Acharn Burn south of the hamlet. The steep Acharn Falls Walk is about 1 mile straight up and down from the village, and is a dangerous place to walk dogs without leads, but provides scenic views of the falls above the village.

The Falls of Bruar were a series of at least three pretty significant waterfalls each with a distinct character all their own. They have been a tourist attraction since the 18th century and were immortalized in a poem by Robert Burns, The Humble Petition of Bruar Water to the Noble Duke of Atholl, supposedly from the river itself entreating the Duke to plant some trees in the then barren landscape.

Faskally Forest is an extensive woodland area within Tay Forest Park on the banks of Loch Dunmore, approximately one mile north west of Pitlochry. The layout of the woodland is largely manmade, having been created in the 19th century in the grounds of Faskally House, which was used as a Forestry Commission school. It can be enjoyed on the many well sign posted paths including the easy access Dunmore Trail with views over the lochside trees or the Foresters' Trail around Dunmore Hill.

Glas Tulaichean is a big dome-shaped mountain usually climbed from the Spittal of Glenshee. A landrover track leads almost all the way to the summit, whilst the lower slopes were once accessed by a private railway.
